THIN LINE BETWEEN LOVE AND HATE
The mere mention of her name would cause my blood to boil. I loathed her.
This lady had caused me many a sleepless night.
There was a lot name calling, wicked texting and enraged phone calls between us. We were constantly at each others throats.
I recall quite vividly how, my sister and I drove to her place one evening just to spin our little Toyota Tazz outside her gate, threw stones at her dogs and proceeded to take off at high speed like ghetto chicks, after we had discovered that she was nibbling my heels.
Notice I said "we".. You see I have sisters who are basically my Ride or Die people! Anyone who messes with me, automatically messes with them. You know...Think Mafia! You simply cannot cause me any harm or discomfort. They will find you and they will attend to you. Lol! Only they have become more and more harmless over the years. I think we are all getting old. We were quite a Terror Squad back in the day.
Back to my story. Anywayy.... This particular lady and I shared a guy. Now, please don't ask me what I mean by "shared a guy". But we did. Share a guy, that is! Hahaha!
I am by nature very jealous and can also become quite obsessive. I cannot help it. It is the Scorpio in me.
And so for months, I nagged, fretted, prayed and even at times fought (literally), all in an attempt to oust my rival. Ah C'mon please cut me some slack! I only fought because I ...... Wait! Why did I fight? "Err, No excuse Rica, you were just being silly, Period!"
Why fight over a man? As Ladies, we tend to put the blame the other woman and overlook the fact that it is actually our guys who are the problem. They are just too greedy, deceptive and thirsty for other females. (The guys will really end up hating on me. It seems I am onto them these days). GENTLEMEN, GENTLEMEN... I COME IN PEACE!"
It was not very long before I got tired of the cat fights between us. I mean, she was not moving an inch, and I was staying put! Hehehe. Love, love love... The things we do! *shaking my head*
I cannot remember who between us both, was first to suggest that we meet for drinks (I suspect it was me though, seeing as it involved drinks and not coffee) in a bid to sit down and TALK! About what? Our Romeo of course.. Yes, us women take it to extremes at times. Actually, ALL the time! It is in our DNA.
So one fine Friday evening at a cosy restaurant, there sat... yours truly, and none other than her rival *Mandisa. The woman I loved to hate.
After we were done talking about how our Female Thirsty dude had fooled us both, and after a wine too many, we moved onto talking about more important things like ourselves. Tee hee..
Yup, I was chilling and happily conversing with "Mgcaki" (love rival).
And so it turned out that she was not the horrible monster I had made her out to be. She actually had a beautiful smile and a great sense of humour too.
Our night ended on a good note. There was lots of laughter, tears, hugs and high fives involved. That evening, I gained myself a new friend. Quite a remarkable soul, uMandisa*.
The hatred I once so passionately harboured was gone. Gone for ever! *Mandisa and I became 'born anew'.
No Fam, It was not insanity. I was what is known as "CLOSURE".
Worth mentioning is, the guy and I did not last very long after that. We soon went our separate ways.
On the flipside and eight years later, *Mandisa and I have kept our friendship, and to this very day we remain very much in touch.
A very thin line between love and hate.
*Not her real name
Till next week Fam, Much love and God Bless!!
